Since 2010, Texas State University’s Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) Conference has provided opportunities for young women studying for careers in the science and engineering fields to gain insights into successful engineering, science, and career practices from experienced professionals, educators, and fellow students.
A key goal of our conference is to provide a place for women to become inspired and empowered, explore opportunities and challenges in STEM, talk with like-minded professionals, and learn what others are doing. Our conference welcomes all who support women in STEM fields to share, experience, and celebrate as a community.
For students, the WiSE conference offers a variety of sessions and workshops. Each year, our conference program is new and different! Past conferences included career panels featuring STEM industry professionals as well as workshops for educators and high school students. Undergraduate and graduate students participated in meet and greet networking, research poster competitions, career prep sessions, and tours of our campus research laboratories. An interactive Expo featured student organizations focused on STEM here at Texas State. In addition, a unique feature of WiSE is the opportunity for students to apply for our annual WiSE scholarships.
For our alumnae, the WiSE conference provides opportunities for you to return to campus and learn how women scientists and engineers at your alma mater are advancing science and engineering practice.
For our faculty and research scientists, the WiSE Conference is an outstanding opportunity to learn what your colleagues around campus are doing, identify potential collaborators, and explore the rich scientific resources in our college and at Texas State University.
