WISE Science EXPO - information and sign up

What is the WISE Science EXPO all about?

Texas State University's WISE (Women In Science and Engineering) Conference is scheduled for Friday, April 28, 2017. In addition to participants from Texas State, we are inviting regional colleges and high schools in order to promote Texas State's undergraduate and graduate STEM programs.

One of the highlights of this conference will be the WISE Science EXPO, which will showcase science and engineering student groups and their activities/interests.

We are actively seeking student organization participation in the conference by inviting your organization to develop and present a hands-on activity or engaging demonstration for conference attendees.  Activities should be geared toward participant inclusion and participation. This is your organization’s opportunity to showcase and share a particularly interesting facet of your field with the conference community.

We think this EXPO will be an exciting way to increase awareness about different STEM-based student groups within our academic communities.

How can my student club participate?

The EXPO will be held from 1:00-3:00pm on the day of the conference (Friday, 4/28) in the LBJ Student Center, Room 3-9.1 & 3-5.1.

Each club will have a 6-foot table reserved for your group's interactive, hands-on science activity that can be shared with conference attendees. In addition, we ask that you display a poster with the name of your organization and institution. It can include (but not required) pictures, stories, and fun information about your club, and it automatically enters your group to be eligible for an award!

MONEY ICONYour club will have the chance to win People’s Choice Cash Awards and, as an added bonus, we will be giving away WISE swag to club team members as supplies permit.

WISE has limited support available to help you purchase materials for your interactive project/experiment.

Requests for funds are limited to $50 and are available on a first come, first served basis.
