Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Endowed Scholarship

In 2007, Dr. Ann M. Muir, Suzanne B. Patenaude, Beverly Curtice, and Dr. Dana Garcia established the Women's Giving Circle. Across the globe, women are under-represented in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. In the U.S., women make up half of the current workforce; yet women comprise less than 30 percent of all scientists in America and less than 12 percent of engineers. These numbers are even more dramatic for minority women in these fields.

The Women's Giving Circle (WGC) supports the Women in Science and Engineering Initiative, and their confluent efforts seek to strengthen the opportunities and enhance the experiences of women in the sciences and engineering. The vision of the WGC is to bring women together whose gifts, when combined, will make a dramatic difference for women and women's leadership in the college. The goal is to make it possible for women to become philanthropists in a way that makes sense for them both personally and financially. The organization had established a scholarship that has been awarded over past years, and it has now been transferred into an endowed account to keep the scholarship in perpetuity.

Contributions to build the endowment are most welcome and will allow us to grow the number of scholarships awarded to women in STEM in our college.
