Across the globe, women are under-represented in the fields of mathematics, science, technology, and engineering. In the U.S., women make up half of the current workforce; yet women comprise less than 30 percent of all scientists in America and less than 12 percent of engineers. These numbers are even more dramatic for minority women in these fields. However, at Texas State, there is good news! As of spring 2010, 3,442 students were enrolled in the College of Science and Engineering. Thirty-eight percent are women, which is ahead of the national curve.

The Women’s Giving Circle (WGC) supports the Women in Science Initiative, and their confluent efforts seek to strengthen the opportunities and enhance the experiences of women in the sciences and engineering. The vision of the WGC is to bring women together whose gifts, when combined, will make a dramatic difference for women and women’s leadership in the college. The goal is to make it possible for women to become philanthropists in a way that makes sense for them both personally and financially.

Please consider joining our circle today!

Click on it and enter the word "women" in the search box.
From the drop-down menu,  select the Women in Science Initiative for your gift.

Thank you!

The Women’s Giving Circle is a permanent organization benefiting the College of Science and Engineering. Members are alumnae and friends of the college who pledge to contribute a minimum of $1,000 per year for three years. This will create a new, substantial pool of money to assist women. Collectively, members decide on an annual basis where to direct the donated funds within the College of Science and Engineering based on proposals received from the various departments. Allocation of funds is determined by majority preference. Special emphasis is given to opportunities that enrich women's lives within the world of science.

As a member of the Women’s Giving Circle, you will have an opportunity to:
  • collaborate with women to make a difference
  • create a living legacy
  • celebrate with others the impact of your participation and support
  • support and promote women in leadership positions
